The Hive Poetry Collective is accepting submissions for the annual Morton Marcus Memorial Poetry Prize. Judged in 2026 by poet Brynn Saito, the competition awards a $1,000 top prize for a single unpublished poem under two pages. The winner is published online and invited to read alongside California State Poet Laureate Lee Herrick at UC Santa Cruz.

This door is open to Nigerians
The contest welcomes international entries from adult writers. According to the Official Morton Marcus Poetry Prize Rules: "The contest is open to all poets around the world who are over 18 years old." Additionally, applicants may "submit one poem (one entry only), up to two pages in length... with no identifying information on the poem."
